Lake Powell ... HERE WE COME!

Like many, Simeon and I both grew up going to Lake Powell with our families. My family started going my Freshman year in high school and we always go to Wahweap. We have the Jackman Family to thank for this very fun tradition. They were the ones to introduce us to Lake Powell with their fun houseboat and we go with them every year!

I don't know when Simeon started going to Lake Powell but I wouldn't be surprised if he's been going since birth. His family owns a house boat in Bull Frog and I've heard many funny stories of the Wolfgramm/Gilgen adventures.

Simeon and I will be heading back to Lake Powell for some fun and sun in about a week. I'm getting more excited as it gets closer to us actually leaving and so naturally I decided to look through some of our LP pictures. I thought I might share some from our past trips! :)

It's always fun when we first launch the houseboat and we're looking for that "perfect" spot to start the trip off.
A quick night shower before the water gets too cold ... Ellie was so determined to have her hair washed but as soon as she hit the water I think she regretted the decision. Ha!
I Love how Marcus probably helped Sim get to the top and then Sim takes all the credit. Notice how Sim and Marcus are giving each other a high five because they are probably on a team and I bet Marc had to take both Adam and Jake on so Simeon could be "King of the Hill". Marcus ... such a good big brother!

Just a few models out getting some sun!
Of course there is always lots of time to fish!
I remember one night Simeon was trying to get me to go out with him and a few others that wanted to fish. After lots of pleading and then some added guilt I finally decided to go. He likes to show off his fishing skills. Unfortunately, that night I had to show him my skills. I ended up catching the two biggest fish. I was too weak to even reel one of them in so Sim said we had to share the glory of catching that one since he did the work reeling it in. I got a ton of bites that night. It was making Aaron so mad that he kept pulling my line so I would think I had a fish on my hook and then I'd get all excited and he would just laugh ... mean!

Check out those beauties!

Aaron was very nice to teach Sim how to fillet a fish. It was his first time ever doing it and he did a pretty good job. We ate them that night ... yum!

I tried forever to catch a Sun Fish and finally Aaron caught one for us to take a picture of. I think they are so cool!Dan and Simeon driving the boat. I remember the first time Dan ever came to Lake Powell with us and my dad asked him to tie the boat up after one of our afternoon skiing trips. He said no problem and then we all went in for lunch. A few hours later we came back out to go tubing and we were all like where's the boat? We asked Dan if he tied it up and he said yes ... then we looked out far in the water and we could see our boat floating in the middle of the lake. I couldn't stop laughing because poor Dan didn't grow up with boats so as far as he knew the knot he tied was just fine. I don't know if he'll ever live that one down.

Max! I love that kids hair! This is Mike and Claar's oldest son. The Jackman babies always keep us very entertained. I wish I had some pictures of Emily and Sarah's kids.Randy and Janin Jackman. The couple I have to thank for so many good memories and growing experiences. As many of you know Janin passed away earlier this year. I have only been to Lake Powell once when she wasn't there. She is always the first face I see when I think about Lake Powell and usually the first face I see when I actually arrive at Lake Powell. I've felt a huge void in preparing for our trip this year and I almost feel unprepared knowing she won't be there. I love Janin and will miss her so much! She is a rock, solid in every way. I feel so blessed to have had her in my life and hope to always continue one of her favorite traditions with her beautiful family!

  5. Hi Michelle! I'm sorry to leave this message here, but I don't seem to have your email address anymore and this would have made for a looong text. Anyway, I wanted to apologize for not making it to your shower. My mom and I hosted a shower for my cousin that same day, and I was planning to come to yours as well until our house flooded! It had flooded a few days before and ruined a bunch of carpet etc, and that was the second and worst of the two floods.

I'm so sorry I didn't make it, but we'd love to see you guys soon! I'm so excited to see pictures of baby girl!
